PERSONAL PROJECTS

My personal practice is largely contemplative. Within my practice I aim to be as unselfish as possible and instead focus on the contribution to the stories or concepts I hope to magnify. Primarily being an oil painter, I enjoy making use of a variety of mediums.

My previous series ‘lottery man’ focused on my dad’s love for the lottery, I made use of his old tickets that he’d filled out or hadn’t used and incorporated them into the paintings to communicate the motif of blind optimism and hope. It involved film, physical art pieces and a CG sculpture.

LOTTERY MAN AT THE ROUNDHOUSE

Sharing my first body of work at the legendary Roundhouse, a historic hub for wonderful artists such as the likes of Andy Warhol and where Queen recorded their first album it was a massive accomplishment to share work in the same space that held so much culture and identity.

Each painting in this collection uses physical lottery tickets to insinuate luck and hope in each story. If you look closely at the tickets you can see old pen markings of the numbers my dad had filled out but hadn't got around to filing in.

I cut out slogans you see on a ticket and combined them together to communicate something new entirely. The key being representative of the luck and hope that steers a lot of people who leave home in search and faith of something better on the other side, reflective of the act of paying for a Lottery ticket and having faith there’s large returns.

THE FISHTANK WORKSHOP RESIDENCY

I took up residence with The Fishtank Workshop from August 2024- August 2025 during this time I had free access to the gallery and also the studios to experiment and build on personal practice, scroll down to see the work that was created in the space

AN ADVERT TO CRY T0 CIRCUIT INSTALLATION

‘An advert to cry to’ made use of a channel video piece that took the physical form of a circuit. Each screen represented a different component within a circuit, those being: the motor, the cell and the switch.

Within the space the viewer was able to watch the subject of the footage travel between screens. They were able to observe what each component does to the subject.

The piece aims to create reflection in identifying ourselves as circuits and what each component represents for us.

Throughout the piece the subject interacts with ribbons that are attached to her, these are the same color as typical wire units and act as keeping her connected to the circuit. Whilst being in a larger circuit she aims to light a lightbulb fixing smaller circuits on screen whilst already being within a giant physical one.
